Chiwawa Road Machine Thinning Project

The Chelan County Natural Resource Department has an open bidding opportunity for the treatment of designated fuel reduction units in the Upper Wenatchee FRB area near Plain, WA. The work includes hand thinning and piling brush and small conifers to reduce fuel loading totaling 134.3 acres of USFS lands, in addition to all other work in accordance with the attached Contract Plans and these Contract Provisions. The purpose of the project is to reduce fuel loading through brush and small conifer thinning, in an effort to restore forest health and wildfire resiliency on the forested lands owned by the US Forest Service in the Upper Wenatchee area. Contractors must be on the CCNRD approved Silviculture Work Contractor List, possess a valid contractor's license and a Farm Labor license, and meet the crew resource and experience requirements outlined in the contract. A mandatory pre-bid walkthrough is scheduled for Friday, April 4th at 12pm. Contractors should meet at the junction of Chiwawa Loop Road and FS 6121. The unit will be accessed on foot from the parking location.

Work may begin upon execution of agreement (as soon as April 24th) and must be complete by June 30th, 2025. 

 

Chiwawa Road Machine Thinning Project

The Chelan County Natural Resource Department has an open bidding opportunity for the treatment of designated units in the Upper Wenatchee FRB area near Plain, WA with machine mastication to remove ladder fuels and thin understory brush and conifer regeneration across 83.8 acres on USFS lands. The purpose is to rearrange fuel loading and prepare the units for prescribed burning in an effort to restore forest health and wildfire resiliency on the forested lands owned by the US Forest Service. This work requires use of a 120-150 horsepower skid steer forestry mulcher. The work includes mobilization, machine mastication, and all other work in accordance with the attached Contract Plans and these Contract Provisions. Contractors must be on the approved Silviculture Work Contractor List, have a valid contractor's license, and meet the machinery and experience requirements outlined in the contract. Work may begin upon approval from USFS based on soil moisture surveys conducted within the unit (as early as May 5th), and will be completed by December 15th, 2025. 

 

Eagle Creek Culvert Replacement Project

The Chelan County Natural Resource Department solicits an Invitation to Bid for the Eagle Creek Culvert Replacement Project, Chelan County, WA. This contract provides for the removal of two fish passage barrier culverts on Eagle Creek and the installation of two 3-sided pre-cast buried concrete box culverts between river-mile (RM) 0.4 and 0.6 on Eagle Creek. The project sites are referred to throughout the Contract Plans and these Contract Provisions by the last name of the adjacent Landowner. From downstream to upstream, the sites are referred to as “Loreth”, and “Morton”. This work includes, but is not limited to installation, maintenance and restoration of temporary construction access routes and staging areas; temporary traffic control as needed to safely deliver, handle, and stage equipment and materials; structure, channel, and roadway excavation; in-water-work requiring site isolation, temporary diversion of streamflow, shoring and dewatering as necessary; temporary erosion and sediment control; design, procurement, and installation of the new crossing structures and associated Timber Curb Railing; streambed and bank restoration; construction surveying required to perform the aforementioned tasks;  and all other work, all in accordance with the Contract Drawings, Technical Specifications, Contract Provisions, permit conditions and the Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction and addenda thereto.

All onsite work shall occur between the dates of September 9th and October 31st, 2025. The estimated range of probable cost for the base bid and additive bid item is $753,000.00-$920,000.00 excluding WSST.

An Optional Pre-Bid site walk through with representatives from the CONTRACTING AGENCY will be held on Thursday March 27th, 2025 11:00 A.M. Attendees should meet at 11275 Eagle Creek Road, Leavenworth, WA. A minimum of one representative from each Prime Contractor that intends to submit a bid is encouraged to attend.

Sealed bids will be received by Chelan County at the Board of County Commissioners Chambers, Chelan County Administration Building, 400 Douglas Street, Wenatchee, Washington until Monday, April 7th, 2025 at 11:00 AM PDT for the Chelan County Natural Resources Project, “Eagle Creek Culvert Replacement Project.” Hard Copies of the Project Manual and Bid Package are available upon request. Peshastin Creek Planting Project

The Chelan County Natural Resource Department solicits an Invitation to Bid for the Peshastin Creek Planting Project, Chelan County, WA. This Contract provides for: the procurement, delivery, sorting, distribution and installation of 1,470 plants of various species specifically grown and prepared for deep planting near river mile 4.3 of Peshastin Creek as shown on the final planting plans. This contract will require access to and familiarity with the specialized equipment and tools necessary to mechanically install deep planting stock in course substrate at depths of 4-6 feet below ground surface. This work also includes, but is not limited to installation, maintenance and restoration of temporary construction access routes and staging areas as necessary to complete the work; placement of native seed mix and straw mulch as necessary to restore disturbed areas; procurement, delivery, sorting, and installation of deep planting stock in various species; and all other work, all in accordance with the Contract Plans, Contract Provisions, and the Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction and addenda thereto. All onsite work shall occur between the dates of October 6th and October 31st, 2025. The project shall be substantially complete no later than October 31st. The estimated range of probable cost is $39,000 – $43,000 excluding WSST.

An Optional Pre-Bid site walk through with representatives from the CONTRACTING AGENCY will be held on March 12th, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Attendees should meet at the project site. To access the site, travel south on US- 97 from the US-97 and US-2 Junction approximately three miles. Turn left (east) and cross Peshastin Creek via a private bridge and continue along the access road for approximately 0.3 miles. This project site is located on private property and is not open to inspection at any time. All site visits must be coordinated with the Contracting Agency.  A minimum of one representative from each Prime Contractor that intends to submit a bid is encouraged to attend.

Sealed bids will be received by Chelan County at the Board of County Commissioners Chambers, Chelan County Administration Building, 400 Douglas Street, Wenatchee, Washington until Monday, March 24th, 2025 at 11:00 AM PDT for the Chelan County Natural Resources “Peshastin Creek Planting Project”.
