Saturday collection at Leavenworth brush drop-off site to end after June 30 for summer season
The last day for summer Saturday brush collection at the Leavenworth brush drop-off yard will be June 29. The drop-off site on East Leavenworth Road will return again to two days of operation in September. The site will remain open on Fridays throughout the summer to accommodate homeowners and businesses in the apple maggot quarantine area of western Chelan County.
Board adopts Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan
The Board of Supervisors of the Chelan County Flood Control Zone District recently adopted the district's Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan and Financial Policies. The management plan and financial policies will guide the direction of the Flood Control Zone District. The plan is available at Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan.
Recycling drop box closes in Entiat
The free recycling drop box at Entiat City Hall will close immediately because it has become too costly to maintain.

Local Scouts recycling Christmas trees on Jan. 6
On Jan. 6, Boy Scout Troop 7 of Wenatchee, in partnership with Chelan County Public Works, will be recycling Christmas trees at the Chelan County shop on Easy Street in Wenatchee. Trees also can be dropped off at the Dryden Transfer Station and the Entiat brush yard.
Jan. 4 open house planned for Eagle Creek Road project
The public is invited to an open house on Thursday, Jan. 4, to learn more about the second phase of a road reconstruction project on Eagle Creek Road.
Crew begins removing debris at Slide Ridge; motorists should expect minor delays
Motorists should watch for one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the area of Slide Ridge on South Lakeshore Road at Lake Chelan. An excavation crew is removing debris from the area after a landslide occurred in October. Minor traffic delays are expected at times.

Public hearing on solid waste management plan rescheduled to Dec. 5
A public hearing on the final draft of the Chelan County Solid Waste Management Plan will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Chelan County Board of Commissioners meeting room, 400 Douglas St. The public is invited to attend.

The Board of Supervisors of the Chelan County Flood Control Zone District will conduct a public hearing on Nov. 13 to consider adoption of its Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan.
Portion of Joe Miller Road to be closed while roadway restored to two lanes
A five-day road closure on a portion of Joe Miller Road begins Tuesday, Aug. 22. Contractor KRCI, LLC, of East Wenatchee will be working to rebuild the roadway, restoring it to two lanes, between mileposts 2.20 and 2.24. That portion of the roadway was damaged in March 2016 during a landslide.
Chip sealing starts Aug. 7 on 2017 Preservation Roads
County road maintenance crews will begin chip sealing Preservation Roads on Monday, Aug. 7. They will start in the Leavenworth District and move onto the Cashmere, Chelan and Wenatchee districts, in that order. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes when crews are in their area.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection event planned for Sept. 29-30
The annual Chelan County Household Hazardous Waste Collection event returns Sept. 29-30 and will be held at four locations throughout the county. The event provides homeowners and businesses the opportunity to dispose of toxic and corrosive materials in a safe way. The collection event is free to households; however, reduced fees apply to qualifying businesses. Residents and businesses must reside in Chelan County to participate.
Five-Day Road Closure Begins July 24 on Chiwawa Loop Road
On Monday, July 24, a five-day road closure begins at milepost 3.43 on Chiwawa Loop Road. The road closure is necessary so crews can install a concrete box culvert at Clear Creek.
Dryden Transfer Station will not take yard waste from apple maggot quarantine area
The Dryden Transfer Station will no longer accept plant material -- tree limbs and clippings, brush, grass, homegrown tree fruit, etc. -- from apple maggot quarantine areas, which includes much of western Chelan County.
5-month road project starts June 5 on Chiwawa Loop
Chelan County Public Works reminds residents that work begins June 5 on the Chiwawa Loop Phase III road reconstruction project.
UPDATE: Squilchuck Road closure this week
A nearly half-mile stretch of Squilchuck Road that was closed on May 22 so Chelan County Public Works crews could install a culvert will be reopened on May 23 to one-lane traffic.
New movement occurring on Whispering Ridge
A geotechnical firm retained by Chelan County is picking up some increasing movement in the Whispering Ridge slide area in Wenatchee.
Chumstick Highway safety project to install traffic safety signs
Work began May 8 on the installation of more than 300 new roadway safety signs along Chumstick Highway. Motorists should expect one-lane, pilot car-controlled traffic in the area where crews will be working each day. Motorists may experience minor delays of up to 15 minutes
There have been recent reports that the Chelan County Regional Jail is refusing to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Agents (ICE).
These reports are incorrect. Chelan County has in the past and continues to honor ICE requests to notify their office in advance of the release of individuals deemed of interest to ICE.

It is the obligation of all land owners under RCW 17.10.140 to eradicate all Class A noxious weeds and control and prevent the spread of all Class B and Class C noxious weeds listed on the Chelan County Noxious Weed List.
