Work begins on Eagle Creek Road improvement project

On May 14, crews will begin working on the Eagle Creek Road Phase II Improvement Project. The project will use full-depth reclamation, or FDR. FDR is a pavement rehabilitation technique in which the fully flexible pavement section and a portion of the underlying materials are uniformly crushed, pulverized and blended, resulting in a stabilized base course.

The Board of Supervisors of the Chelan County Flood Control Zone District recently adopted the district's Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan and Financial Policies. The management plan and financial policies will guide the direction of the Flood Control Zone District. The plan is available at Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan.

Local Scouts recycling Christmas trees on Jan. 6

On Jan. 6, Boy Scout Troop 7 of Wenatchee, in partnership with Chelan County Public Works, will be recycling Christmas trees at the Chelan County shop on Easy Street in Wenatchee. Trees also can be dropped off at the Dryden Transfer Station and the Entiat brush yard.

Chip sealing starts Aug. 7 on 2017 Preservation Roads

County road maintenance crews will begin chip sealing Preservation Roads on Monday, Aug. 7. They will start in the Leavenworth District and move onto the Cashmere, Chelan and Wenatchee districts, in that order. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes when crews are in their area.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection event planned for Sept. 29-30

The annual Chelan County Household Hazardous Waste Collection event returns Sept. 29-30 and will be held at four locations throughout the county. The event provides homeowners and businesses the opportunity to dispose of toxic and corrosive materials in a safe way. The collection event is free to households; however, reduced fees apply to qualifying businesses. Residents and businesses must reside in Chelan County to participate.

UPDATE: Squilchuck Road closure this week

A nearly half-mile stretch of Squilchuck Road that was closed on May 22 so Chelan County Public Works crews could install a culvert will be reopened on May 23 to one-lane traffic.

Chumstick Highway safety project to install traffic safety signs

Work began May 8 on the installation of more than 300 new roadway safety signs along Chumstick Highway. Motorists should expect one-lane, pilot car-controlled traffic in the area where crews will be working each day. Motorists may experience minor delays of up to 15 minutes

The Chelan County Noxious Weed Control Board, in accordance with RCW 17.10.190 reminds land owners that the noxious weed survey season will begin again April 1. It is the obligation of all land owners under RCW 17.10.140 to eradicate all Class A noxious weeds and control and prevent the spread of all Class B and Class C noxious weeds listed on the Chelan County Noxious Weed List.
