Beginning Aug. 1, Chelan County Public Works will no longer be able to accept payments on permits and fees after 1 p.m. on Fridays. Payment will continue to be taken during regular hours Monday through Thursday and before 1 p.m. on Fridays.

Five employees of the Chelan County Regional Justice Center were recently recognized for their life-saving efforts this past year. They were recognized on April 19 at the Wenatchee Valley Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony.

Construction was completed in March on four new debris basins on the upper portion of No. 1 Canyon Road in Wenatchee. The basins will detain and release reoccurring, debris-laden floodwaters that often strike the canyon following rain events or during heavy snowmelt.

A long-time passion for big trucks steered Donna O’Brien to Chelan County Public Works 14 years ago. While O’Brien is not the first woman at Chelan County Public Works to command a Kenworth T800 dump truck, she currently is the only one and one of only a handful over the years.
The public is invited to join in the “Restore the Shore” effort on March 25, when volunteers will gather for a communitywide beach cleanup at Lake Chelan.
