With construction of the new West Cashmere Bridge entering its second season, river recreationists on the Wenatchee River near Cashmere are reminded to follow directional signs at the work site in order to pass safely under the project's temporary work trestle.
Before the snow flies, Chelan County Public Works is cautioning the public that while the department’s snowplow operators will be hard at work this winter, impacts from COVID-19 may get in the way of snow and ice control at times. And if that happens, snowplowing efforts may be hindered.
During the winter months, Chelan County Public Works crews are focused on keeping roads clear of snow and ice for the safety of travelers. But there are three common misconceptions about the County’s snow removal process that seem to hit with every first snowfall.
This news item has been updated. The West Cashmere Bridge's “in-water window,” or the time allowed for Chelan County’s contractor to complete work in the Wenatchee River, begins on July 15 and runs through Sept. 30.
On July 6, Chelan County road crews will be chip sealing portions of Chumstick Highway. Traffic impacts include flaggers, one-lane traffic, a pilot car leading vehicles, and a reduced speed limit to 35 mph.
