While snowplow operators are working hard to keep people safe on county roads, they need a little help from the traveling public. We’re passing along reminders how you can do your part to travel safely alongside the county snowplows.
The Cascade Orchard Bridge on Icicle Road in Leavenworth will be closed for a month beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6, as a contractor for Chelan County begins to repair the deck of the 57-year-old bridge. It is expected to be re-opened on Sept. 27.
Beginning Sept. 1, Chelan County Public Works will increase development fees that the department collects on permit applications and reviews of land use permits and road construction projects.
Chelan County Public Works and the City of Cashmere will host an open house on Aug. 30 for citizens interested in a $3 million improvement project to Goodwin and Sunset roads.
Eric Pierson, Chelan County Public Works director and county engineer, was recently named the 2022 County Engineer of the Year by the Washington State County Road Administration Board.
The new West Cashmere Bridge is expected to be open in July. River recreationists are cautioned that the wooden work trestle that was built over the river at the site of the new bridge will remain in the river until then.
While the wildland firefighters are now gone, that doesn’t mean work on the Twenty-Five Mile Fire is over. Chelan County has been not only evaluating the wildfire damages to public infrastructure but also putting some safeguards in place for potential impacts that may last long into the future.
Update: This project is complete. Chelan County’s Surface and Stormwater Management Utility has completed on a project on South Wenatchee Avenue and Boodry Street.
